Mission Statement |

The mission of Young Parents as Teachers is to provide education, support and resources to pregnant and parenting teens-empowering them to be their children's first and best teacher. We also encourage the young parents to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. |

Program Goals:
- Provide opportunities for support and encouragement from caring adults and other young parents.
- Provide age-appropriate information in child development. Offer links to community resources for parent and/or child.
- Provide a book monthly to each family.
- Assess children for developmental milestones and provide referrals if needed.
- Promote goal-setting, education and sexual abstinence to reduce chance of repeat pregnancy.
- Provide monthly parenting sessions at local high schools as well as monthly after school meetings.
- Conduct monthly home visits for parents and children.

Every parent needs support. We recognize and understand this is especially true for young mothers and fathers. This program has been designed to help you, young parents, to be your child's first and best teacher and to support you in meeting your goals for your life.
