Q: Will you be strict on the dress code at the very beginning?
A: There will be a two day grace period, but students must still wear clothing that would have been appropriate for previous years.
Q: Are solid yellow or solid white polo dresses allowed for Oak Grove Primary girls?
A: Yellow is fine, but White is NOT.
Q: Why can't navy be a ditrict color since it is way more accessible than gray?
A: The district colors were chosen and voted on by a dress code committe.
Q: Will teachers be required to turn the AC temps up so classrooms are not so cold due to the restrictions on wearing even light jacket?
A: If your child is having difficulty focusing, because it is too cold in the classroom, have them report to you, and you in return contact your principal or the district office.
Q: Are different shades or types of material in the same color considered solid color, an example are the Sperry flip flops?
A: Yes
Q: Can sweaters have a school logo on them?
A: Yes
Q: The LCSD dress code publication states that outerwear must be unbuttoned/unzipped while indoors. Does this mean that a sweater (cardigan) must be removed or unbuttoned while indoors?
A: No, a cardigan would not be have to be removed while indoors. The outerwear policy does not apply to cardigan sweaters.
Q: Can girls wear leggings with ugg boots with a dress/skirt?
A: Yes, the skirt or dress must meet the length requirement.
Q: A gold colored shirt is hard to find. Can yellow also be used in place of gold?
A: Yes.
Q: There are many shades of purple. Do the shirt colors have to be a "team" purple or can they be any shade of purple, for example
lavender?
A: They may be any shade of purple.
Q: Why are there going to be uniforms?
A: It is board policy.
Q: Does the board have a reason behind the uniforms?
A: Yes, if you have any further questions please contact the board member for your area.
Q: Is the dress code being strict on tight clothing?
A: Yes, with girls clothing in particular. The principals at the school will have the authority to say if the clothing is inappropriate or too revealing.
Q: Are we going to have casual days?
A: Yes, there will be reward days, but they are set by the
principal.
Q: Can middle school students wear their jackets inside the building or classroom?
A: They may wear them inside the building, but they are not allowed to wear them in the classroom, and when inside the building, they must be unzipped.
Q: In regards to band students at OGHS: Will dress code
be required while they are marching outside during first block?
A: No, they may still wear light weight clothing while practicing,
and change into uniform when practice is over.
Q: Can girls wear leggings with skirts, jumpers or
dresses?
A: Yes as long as they are black, brown, tan, white, gray or navy.

Q: Do K-5 have to tuck their shirt in if it is finger tip length?
A: No.
Q: I see in pictures that the girls are wearing shirts that have buttons. I know that a
collared shirt is required, but do they have to have buttons on the front?
A: No, as long as it is a collared shirt.
Q: Are K-5 students allowed to wear solid color t-shirts?
A: No, they all must be shirts with collars.
Q: Can Oak Grove students wear navy shirts?
A: No
Q: Are shirts to be tucked in at all time?
A: Yes, shirts for secondary schools must be tucked in at ALL times.
Q: Are elementary students required to keep their shirts tucked in?
A: No, as long as they do not exceed the wrist length.
Q: Do shirts need to be solid in color or will school color combinations be allowed for shirts?
A: All school shirts should be a solid color.
Q: One of the example pictures shows a high school girl
with a shirt that sits at the waist. It is not tucked in as far as I
can tell nor is a belt visible. Will this be allowed?
A: No, that student will be considered out of dress code.
Q: For monogramming of school logos is there a specific
or acceptable logo for SES or can it be any bobcat or SES emblem?
A: There is no specific school logo, but it must meet the size
requirements and placed on the front left chest of the shirt. Brand
logos must be small enough to be covered by a quarter.
Q: Can a hoodie be worn if it is a school activity hoodie?
A: No, school activity sweatshirts will have to meet the dress
code.
Q:Can we wear skirts that have elastic only in the back?
A :Yes

A: Yes
Q: Can navy blue shirts be worn at Oak Grove schools?
A: No, Navy is not an approved shirt color for OG, but you are allowed to wear Navy pants.
Q: Some pants, that are made for girls, do not have belt loops. Will these be acceptable, as long as the shirts are tucked in?
A: Yes, but they must still meet all dress code requirements such as pants falling down, skin showing, etc.
Q: Are plaid skirts/shorts allowed as long as they are made with approved school district color combinations?
A: No, they are not allowed.
Q: Can jackets be worn inside if the teacher keeps his/her room too cold?
A: Jackets are not to be worn inside the classroom, but the teacher is allowed to make an exception in those cases.
Q: Are bottoms without belt loops required?
A: No, As stated in the dress code pants that are not secured at the WAIST with a belt are not required.
Q: Does denim include shorts and capris for elementary
students?
A: Yes
Q: Can there be an emblem on shorts? ie polo brand mens shorts/pants have a quarter size (maybe smaller) emblem on the back just below the belt line.
A: Yes, as long as they meet the logo requirement.
Q: Can plain black sweat pants be worn?
A: No
Q: In K-5 (elem.) can blue jean shorts
be worn as long as they do not have any additional pockets?
A: K-5 may wear blue jean shorts, and little girls may wear denim
jumpers. NO denim allowed for grades 6-12.
Q: Can the students where flip-flops with designs on them? for example, flip-flops with diamonds on them?
A: Yes, as long the backgroung color is solid.
Q: Can converse with sparkles or glitter be allowed?
A: No.
Q: Can Oak Grove middle student wear gold sandals?
A: No.
Q: Are you allowed to wear any combination of the approved colors, black and white yellowbox?
A: All flip flops must be solid in color.
Q: Must sandals/shoes be solid colors only or must they simply be a combination of the approved colors, for example black and white print yellow box sandals?
A: Tennis shoes may be the solid approved colors or a combination of the approved colors. Sandals must be the approved solid color. They may not be a combination, due to the wide variety of styles that would be available.
Q: My child attends SES. Will blue and white polka dot yellow box flip flops be allowed?
A: No, they must be a solid color.
Q: What are the colors for tennis shoes for Oak Grove High, and would royal blue be acceptable?
A: The tennis shoe colors for all middle school and high school
students are black, brown, tan, white, navy or gray. Royal blue would not be accepted.
Q: Can my son wear gold cloth with a white sole tennis shoes at the high school?
A: No, The majority of the shoe must be the approved shoe color, but it can be all white with a gold Nike sign or gold sole.
Q: Can black and gold or white and gold tennis shoes be worn at the middle school and high school?
A: Yes, but the shoe must be a majority of the required colors with the gold emblem.
Q: Can K-5 wear any kind of sandals except flip flops to school?
A: Yes
Q: My child's school is Purvis, if she gets purple and gold yellow box flip flops will she be able to wear them? Do they have to be the colors listed?
A: The flip flops must be the solid colors that are listed on the shoe requirements.
Q: Can students wear flip flops? If so, what colors?
A: Yes, flip flops may be worn. They must be brown, black, white, navy, tan or gray.

A: There are no restrictions on shoe colors for grades K-5.

A: Yes, sandals and similar footwear can be worn, but NO beach flip-flops
or shower shoes.

A: They are the little plastic flip flops that the strap can be seen under the bottom of the shoe. Yellow box and Rainbow flip flops are fine as long as they are the school colors.
Q: Can crocs be worn?
A: Yes, but there is a color restriction. They should be school colors.

A: Yes. Normal dress code applies to ear rings.

A: All jewelry should be unobtrusive.

A: Hair accessories must match dress colors.

backpacks?
A: No, there are no restrictions on backpacks including wheels.

A: Belts should be black or brown for high school students. Elementary students are not required to wear a belt.
Q: Can belts with the pewter USM eagle head, Ole Miss emblem, or MS State etc. be worn as long as the overall belt is brown or black?
A: No - emblems are not allowed on belts.
Q: Do girls have to wear belts?
A: Yes. Belts for girls must be worn if they are in grades
6-12. This is for pants, shorts and skirts that have belt loops.

A: Yes, they can wear navy blue dresses, jumpes, and skirts. As for our winter apparel, we will revisit the requirements at a later date, in order to make adjustments to the policy.

A: No, they are considered a bottom, and must be Navy, Black or Blue

A: No, all sweater vest must be solid colors.

A: No, all dresses must have a collar, unless you wear a dress with a polo shirt under it, ie the jumper dresses.

A: No, there are no specific colors or looks for days of the week.
Q: Can you explain the picture policy a little clearer?
A: On school picture days all dress code rules apply except for colors. Students may wear any color combination on that day.
Q: On picture days when any color combination was mentioned, does that mean any color such as an orange shirt or did you mean the color combination within the dresscode?
A: You are allowed to wear any color you would like, as long as the dresscode is still followed. For example shirts will still be tucked in or skirts must meet the required length.
Q: On picture day could my child wear a striped polo?
A: Yes.
Q: What color blue is acceptable for Sumrall?
A: The intent of the new dress code for Sumrall was Royal Blue. However, that was not communicated very well by the district at the beginning so Sumrall administrators will be flexible for this year when needed on shades of blue.

for middle school girls?
